Aylesbury / Wycombe VTS offer high quality education with innovative posts and varying rotations to suit individual training needs. A continuing programme for SHOs operates throughout the rotations on both sites, mid-job appraisals take place with consultant and trainer, and monthly SHO meetings with current registrar group form an integral part of the training offered.
There are up to 20 rotations on offer over both sites. Each rotation provides excellent hands-on training with a variety of posts available for 3 year, 2 year and 1 year training programmes. The VTS have excellent working relationships with all departments involved with the scheme, and strives to provide high quality training with well-organised and supportive training practices.
Aims and Objectives of the Scheme
- To provide high quality training utilising excellent hospital posts, support and guidance together with exceptional resources tailored to learning needs.
- To ensure that the quality of education provided within the scheme is challenging and rewarding, whilst remaining relevant to the needs of future general practitioners
- To provide on-going focus relevant to general practice throughout SHO years
- To respond effectively to the educational challenges of the general practice year, both within the practices and on the day release course
- To provide opportunities for consultants , trainers and course organisers to develop their teaching and assessment skills
- To provide personal support and appraisal to each trainee throughout training, encouraging the growth of educational autonomy, maturity and self-awareness
